Key Functions

OFCANZ works to minimise the risk and harm to New Zealanders from organised criminal groups. This is done by:

  • Leading and enhancing the co-operation between law enforcement and other agencies in the planning and conducting of operations against organised crime.
  • Driving the intelligence process to gather information and ensure information is shared between law enforcement and other agencies.
  • Interrupting organised criminal activities by restraining and forfeiting the proceeds of crime working alongside the Police Financial Crime groups (improving/educating the public/government agencies on the understanding of the activities and harm caused by organised criminal networks).
  • Identifying opportunities for legislative changes against organised criminal groups operating in New Zealand.
